ABLE x Mother's Day

Posted by on

To celebrate Mother's Day, Team ABLE decided to turn inwards and interview our own moms!

“Mom” isn’t the only identifier for each of these life-generating women but we think it’s one well worth celebrating. With a few simple questions we learned about their identities as mamas, why life is better with us in them (obviously), and of course, lessons only a parent could learn.

Cheryl Olsten, Mother of Dana Rae - Founder of ABLE Cosmetics
(1) If you could pick one word to describe yourself as a mother - what would it be?
Compassionate
(2) What has been the biggest lesson learned from being a mom?
To be a guiding force.  A protector. A good listener. To think before reacting. And to nurture and grow the spirit within, not always easy.
(3) What are you ABLE to do better now that you raised children?
Step back and let them find their own way. One has to fall a few times to figure things out, and sometimes, it's OKAY to fall.

(1) If you could pick one word to describe yourself as a mother - what would it be?

Trying

(2) What has been the biggest lesson learned from being a mom?

I learned a bit late that your kids want you to be funny, goofy, playful and responsible.

(3) What are you ABLE to do better now that you raised children?

I'm very sympathetic to other parents. It's a big 'ole crapshoot how your child will turn out. All you really want your children to know is that they are deserving and capable of love. So I could say I'm more forgiving and offer an honest hand to those parents in need of support. Sometimes it's just a hand on my heart or a hug, but I think they know you've "been there."
