It looks like 2018 is going to be all about bold statements and self expression. We found 3 beauty trends we love walking down the red carpet at the 2018 Golden Globes. These looks will surely be making it onto our “New Year, New Trends” Pinterest board.
Purple makeup might sound like a loud statement but it can actually be quite glamorous and complimentary. Kerry Washington on the Golden Globes red carpet is a perfect example of purple allure! To dazzle like this, use a purple shadow and dust it over your lids. Then take a dark purple eyeliner and rim your eyes. If you want to really up the wow factor, add a black cat eye over top and finish your look off with strip lashes.
2. Black Rimmed Eyes
You might hear “Black Rimmed Eyes” and think this look is too dramatic for you but the truth is that this look can be tailored to beautifully suit all eye shapes and personal styles. Tracee Ellis Ross took her black rimmed eye makeup to a new level at the Golden Globes. Her eyes were popping in crisp black lines. Tracee added a red lip and ignored the “eyes or lips” saying – we love it! Paired with her head wrap, this look was so striking.
3. Long Lashes
Lashes have been on the up and up for years. But now it seems that they are an essential. Celebrities like Elisabeth Moss, Jamie Chung, Claire Foy, Heidi Klum, Issa Rae, Samira Wiley & Angelina Jolie all rocked long lashes at the Globes. Wearing false lashes has multiple benefits. Your eyes will appear larger, you’ll look more awake, and your eye shape will be enhanced. The best part? As we age, our lashes thin and lose color but applying false lashes can help portray a more youthful look! It’s like you and your lashes haven’t aged a day. Your secret is safe with us!
Aside from these 3 must try looks we noticed plenty of other beauty trends happening on the red carpet. Red was the most popular lip color this year – which is no surprise because classic is always in style. Cat eyes were a scene-stealing staple, sported chicly by Millie Bobby Brown and Zoe Kravitz. In addition to the classic blow out, more and more actresses were rocking short pixie cuts and taking advantage of their natural hair texture for voluminous styles.
We love all of these stunning styles, but our favorite trend this year is unity. The black outfits worn by everyone on the red carpet was a bold and powerful statement. Standing up for equality and safety was everyone’s priority, and we stand with them. We will be ordering everything on the TIME’S UP website to support this important cause.
